New classes on the fall fitness and leisure class schedule expand options organized by Wellness and Recreation Services. Dana Foster, Instructional Fitness Coordinator, said returning classes have a loyal following so those classes are easy to select for the schedule.
“We watch trends and respond to the feedback of program participants when we evaluate adding new classes to the schedule. The availability of well-trained instructors is also an issue,” Dana said. “This year we have a trained instructor offer to teach Aqua Zumba, so we decided to give it a place on the schedule,” she said. Aqua Zumba combines unique combinations of strength and conditioning moves and energizing music. Carol Johnston, instructor, leads the class from poolside while participants mimic the moves in the water. The class meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:45 at the leisure pool.
Offering yoga in the early morning is also a new opportunity on the fall semester schedule. Awakening Yoga will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 a.m.
The fall schedule includes cardio, dance, water, strength and conditioning classes plus leisure classes and instructor training. The fall series of classes begins Monday, August 29.
