Dr. Leslie Williams named as new Dean of Students

Posted on Friday, June 22nd, 2012

Dr. Leslie Williams has accepted the position to serve as the Dean of Students.  Dr. Williams, a native of Kansas City, has previously worked at Georgia State University, the University of Tennessee, and currently serves as Director of Student Conduct and Commuter Affairs at the University of Rhode Island.  She received her Ed.D. from Johnson and Wales, her M.S. from the University of Tennessee, and her B.S. from Central Missouri.

Leslie stated she is looking forward to her move to UNI and to Iowa.  “Having been away from the Midwest for nearly 20 years, I am excited for my return and look forward to learning all of the UNI traditions,” she said.  She was impressed with the multiple initiatives underway at UNI focused on helping students succeed.  And, she was drawn in by the friendliness and student-focused attitude reflected across campus.  “The hospitality everyone showed me on my visit made my decision to accept the position an easy one,” she said.

Leslie will officially take over duties as the Dean of Students on July 30th.
