Paula KnudsonWelcome to the Division of Student Affairs at UNI!  We provide connections and resources for students to be successful on their educational journey.  We aspire to develop partnerships that build a welcoming, equitable and engaging environment, and connect in-the-classroom learning with out-of-classroom opportunities.  By collaborating with others across the campus community, we challenge students to grow to their full potential.  Join us on this journey as we contribute to the development of students to become better leaders of today and better citizens of tomorrow.

Flag Planting Remembrance September 11 unites community in reflection on anniversary of 9/11 tragedy (slide show)

UNI faculty, staff, students and community members joined the Northern Iowa Student Government for a Flag Planting Remembrance on Sept. 11 at Lawther Field. Individuals planted flags in memory of each person who lost their life on 9/11.

A moment of silence was held at 8:37 a.m., 8:59 a.m., 9:03 a.m. and 9:28 a.m. (all CST), to commemorate the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers, and the crashes at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania. University of Northern Iowa.

MAP-Works® Contributes to New Student Success

Between September 15 and October 6, 2014, new freshmen at UNI are strongly urged to increase their chances of social and academic success by taking the 15-minute MAP-Works® (Making Achievement Possible) survey.  Immediately after taking the survey each student receives an individualized report that includes valuable feedback, recommendations and information related to succeeding in college. 

Gay-straight alliance earns recognition from Iowa organization

UNI Proud has earned recognition as the best gay-straight alliance of 2011.  The award was giving by the Iowa Pride Network. 

 

The Iowa Pride Network awards are designed to recognize and honor the best middle school and/or high school gay-straight alliance and college and/or university LGBT group in the state of Iowa.  Awards go to LGBT student organizations that have shown a committed effort to raise awareness of LGBT issues on their campus and in their communities and have pioneered programs that increased respect for LGBT people.
