The Board of Regents Staff Excellence Award recognizes Professional and Scientific staff from the Regents institutions who have made outstanding professional contributions during their careers. Award recipients are recognized not only the university, but also by the Board of Regents, State of Iowa. Vice President for Student Affairs
The Helping Students Succeed Award acknowledges key partners in other divisions of the University who have contribued to the success of students through collaboration with Student Affairs. Thank you and congratulations to this year's outstanding honorees: Jan Hanish, Assistant Vice President of Administration and Financial Services; Deirdre Heistad, Director of the Liberal Arts Core; Inez Murtha, Director of the Academic Learning Center; and Jean Neibauer, Director of Academic Advising.
Established in 1992, the Sue Follon Exemplary Service Award is intended to recognize individuals who emulate the former division vice president. The criteria employed to determine the recipients of the award are: committed to students and the mission of Student Affairs, exceeds expectations, has made continued and sustained contributions to students and/or staff, exhibits a positive influence in the work place, and demonstrates excellence in the performance of responsibilities.
The 25th Anniversary of the annual UNI RA Conference was celebrated January 23-25, 2015 by taking guests “Back to the Future.” This year’s conference included 553 students from 50 colleges and universities in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Following an evening of fun at the WRC, guests were treated Saturday morning to keynote speaker James Robilotta. Students then participated sessions throughout the day centering on leadership and community building. The day ended with dinner, an awards ceremony and a dance.
The Office of the Dean of Students and the Student Involvement Center are accepting nominations for the annual student leadership awards. Students may be nominated for the Emerging Leader of the Year Award, Outstanding Student Leader Award, the Servant Leadership Award and the Lux Service Award. Student organizations and programs can be nominated for Student Organization of the Year and Program of distinction. Student organization advisors can be nominated for the Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award.
